2022 Medal of Honor Recipients

In recognition for extraordinary acts of valor and heroism, the Idaho Law Enforcement, Firefighting and EMS Medal of Honor is awarded to law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs who have been distinguished by exceptionally meritorious conduct, assuring that the sacrifices of these professionals are recognized and their bravery honored by the state whose citizens they protect.

 In March 2022, the Idaho Medal of Honor Commission met and selected six law enforcement officers to receive the Medal of Honor. The 2022 recipients are:

Officer Steve Bonas
Boise City Police Department

On March 8, 2013, Boise City Police Department Patrol Officer/K-9 Handler Steve Bonas responded to a request for assistance from Ada County Sheriff’s deputies for a Patrol K-9 team to help locate a homicidal and suicidal suspect armed with a handgun.   Read more >>>

On December 18, 2020, Nampa Police Department Patrol Officer Samuel Lang was assisting with a traffic stop in the parking lot of a Nampa business.  The passenger was asked to exit the vehicle by the officer conducting the stop but was uncooperative.   Read more >>>
