Nomination Eligibility

Idaho Code § 67-8801, provides that the medal may be given to any law enforcement officer, firefighter, or EMS provider who was killed or seriously injured or who distinguished himself or herself by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of duty.

The Medal of Honor Commission has set forth rules and qualifications for awarding the Medal of Honor.

It is important to note that the agency nominating an individual for the Medal of Honor has the burden of setting forth the facts and stating the case as to why a particular peace officer, firefighter, or EMS provider merits the Medal of Honor.

2024 Call for Nominations

The Medal of Honor Commission began accepting nominations on November 1, 2023, for those officers, firefighters, and EMS providers who will be honored in the coming. year’s ceremony.

A link to the 2024. Nomination Form will be posted to this page on November 1, 2023, along with the November 1, 2023 call for nomination letter.  Nominations may be mailed or hand delivered and must be postmarked or received by January 31, 2024.
