2010 Medal of Honor Recipients
In recognition for extraordinary acts of valor and heroism, the Idaho Law Enforcement, Firefighting and EMS Medal of Honor is awarded to law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs who have been distinguished by exceptionally meritorious conduct, assuring that the sacrifices of these professionals are recognized and their bravery honored by the state whose citizens they protect.
On May 7, 2010, the following individuals were recognized for their valor and heroism:
Officer Clay Christensen
Boise Police Department
On June 24, 1996, at approximately 9:00 pm, Boise Police Officers Clay Christensen and Scott Mulcahy responded to a call regarding a suspect selling marijuana at the Denny’s restaurant in downtown Boise. When the officers approached, the suspect attempted to escape on his bicycle. Officer Mulcahy pushed the suspect off of his bicycle. The suspect then rolled to his back pointing a gun at the officers. An intense fight ensued as the officers tried to gain control of the gun. Read more >>>
Deputy Carlos Martinez
Idaho County Sheriff’s Office
On the evening of July 10, 2009, Deputy Carlos Martinez and Lieutenant Doug Ulmer responded to a report of a young girl swept into the Clearwater River near Kooskia. Deputy Martinez and Lieutenant Ulmer searched the river and were able to spot two-year-old Kayla Ladd nearly a half mile down river from where she was swept in. Read more >>>
