2017 Medal of Honor Recipients
In recognition for extraordinary acts of valor and heroism, the Idaho Law Enforcement, Firefighting and EMS Medal of Honor is awarded to law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs who have been distinguished by exceptionally meritorious conduct, assuring that the sacrifices of these professionals are recognized and their bravery honored by the state whose citizens they protect.
In 2017, four individuals were recognized for their valor and heroism. In May, three law enforcement officers were awarded the Idaho Medal of Honor during a ceremony at the Idaho State Capitol Building. In September, one firefighter received the Idaho Medal of Honor during a ceremony at the Idaho Fallen Firefighters Memorial:

Elmore County Sheriff’s Office
On August 2, 2016, at approximately 8:05 a.m. in Hammett, emergency service personnel responded to a report of a residential burglary and stolen vehicle. Elmore County Chief Deputy Michael Barclay began to coordinate a search for the suspect, learned that the suspect was armed and called in Det. Sgt. Kyle Moore to assist in the search. Read more >>>
Captain Dave Krumenacker
Blackfoot Fire Department
On June 14, 2016, the Blackfoot Fire Department was dispatched to a house where a car had driven through the structure, starting a fire and fully engulfing the house in flames. Fire Captain Dave Krumenacker was told of an elderly man trapped in the house. Read more >>>
Patrol Sergeant Greg Moore
Coeur d’Alene Police Department
On May 5, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m. in Coeur d’Alene, Patrol Sergeant Greg Moore was patrolling in the area of Wilbur Avenue and Joanna Drive in response to reports of several car break-ins. Sgt. Moore stopped a suspicious male and radioed the man’s information into dispatch, but made no further radio contact. Read more >>>

On August 2, 2016, at approximately 8:05 a.m. in Hammett, emergency service personnel responded to a report of a residential burglary and stolen vehicle. Elmore County Chief Deputy Michael Barclay began to coordinate a search for the suspect, learned that the suspect was armed and called in Detective Sergeant Kyle Moore to assist in the search.
